Day 1 05/22/08 Depart Midland at 9:00 am. Caught Hwy 180 at Snyder then over to Paris TX. Not exactly the Paris Sydni was planning on but it was AFTER the wedding and the true Delton is coming to surface. We stayed in a Motel that would have made Randolph proud. Wind was blowing bad out of the South so we had a cross wind at 20 to 35 MPH all day.
Day 2 05/23/08 Note to self. = Shortest distance on a GPS in East TX means (Paris) is not the same as Midland TX. Departed Paris at 9:00 am and saw a lot of the country side. When I say a LOT I mean when you calculate shortest distance it takes you down a Cow trail through a Cow LOT. Had to backtrack a bit. Back on track we went up to Hugo OK and caught the Indian Nation Turnpike. Good ideal, very little traffic. Arrived in Harrison AR a little after 2:00. Looked a bit rainy so we checked in to a room instead of camping.
Day 3 05/24/08 Raining this am. Sure glad we were in the room, but I sure know how to stop the rain. We suited up in full rain gear and it quit before we got down to the bike. Just went to the rally and spent the day then attended their dance Had a very talented vocalist doing Karaoke.
Day 4 05/25/08 Rain and fog this am. Cloudy, but no rain until late after noon. Went to a few rally seminars. The Honda rally people put a lot into education.Went back to room about 4:30 pm to avoid the rain. Good Pizza deliver to room.
Day 5 05/26/08 Rain of and on all day and forcast looks bad for the rest of the week. Rain is forcast for the entire rout North. Just hung around the room today and did not do much. See what it look like in the am.
Sydni is going to have to swim out to the 1800 to get the rain gear.
Day 6 05/27/08 Rain, rain, and more rain. Does not look good clear across entire US. This am we are just waiting for a brake to head South. We are on the road back to West Texas by 9:00 am. Rain lasted until we reached Gainesville TX some 350 miles down the road the way we went. Remember we are finished taking the shortest rout.
Stopped for night in Brekenridge TX. Sure a good thing we did. About 1 hour after check in it started raining and came a down pore. Had enough riding in the rain for one day.
LOOK ! The Brazos River is up so much you can not even jump across it now almost.
We are home, back in Midland TX. as you can see I am on a different comp. Had a beautiful day to ride in from Breckenridge. One of those days you fell like you can ride for ever. Cut trip short but sure enjoyed it. Looking forward to being back on the road soon.
