We road the Honda Gold Wing down to the Lafayette LA. area to attend the Party put on by Thomas " Big Hat " Fields each year at Labor day. We can not say enough to describe the good time we had. People down here sure know how to have a good time. I think there were 6 bands and big dance floor. Thomas did not charge for coming and supplied all the food (Barb Q ed ribs) free. It must have cost him a fourtune. We wish to thank Thomas for his hospitality. He is appreciated very much. If the party is held next year we will be there. Thank YOU again. Please stop by again. Thank you for your interest!

Big Hat wanted everyone to have a good time in which we did.
Bikes got to park close the to party and cars covered the rest of the big parking lot.
Thomas "Big Hat" Field's Labor Day Party started at 4:00 pm.

It is time to head back to Midland.
Just do not want to go home yet.
On the way home just east of Kosse, TX. we saw a coal strip mine that has just started to dig. Looked like the coal was only about 60ft below surface. You can see the big power plant in the background of the shot.

D-10 Cat and large Hydraulic Shovel working a railroad track bed for new rail to haul the coal to the Power Plant.
Big Trucks working with another Hydraulic shovel. Rail to transport the coal should be in operation before our next trip down this way. When Sydni saw the trucks I like to have had to leave her down there.
